It's Here!!

A few weeks ago I was so excited about getting my iPhone...but then I didn't. A certain phone company that rhymes with horizon told me I had to wait until November 9th...then they said November 16th...then they said AFTER THE HOLIDAYS! So I ordered it from the Apple website and picked it up this weekend.

I don't have a case yet so I've been carrying it around in a fluffy, pink and yellow sock. I've learned how to FaceTime and I've spent a bajillion hours playing Words With Friends over the last three days. Also Instagram is my favorite. Be my friend: CallmeAmy4.

It's Like Christmas Eve!

Tomorrow I'm getting an iPhone! (I've only been talking about it for three years.) Ask anyone who knows me, I'm the biggest procrastinator in the history of the world. I'm also a terrible decision maker. So I've put off joining the 21st century forever ever because I haven't wanted to commit to a data plan.

But I'm ready. And SOOOOO EXCITED!

Here are the top 5 reasons I'm psyched about getting an iPhone.

1. Instagram - I can't wait to document every single detail of my life via photo. You know you want to follow me.

2. Talking to Siri - I have a lot of things to discuss with her.

3. Blog stalking my internet friends from the comfort and convenience of everywhere.

4. Never getting lost again. (Who am I kidding?)

5. Words With Friends - I know I'm like 2.5 years late to the game...but someone will still play with me...right?

Saturday To-Do's Done

Today was the perfect balance of productivity and lazy. I did important things like pay my bills and mail my rent.

I registered to vote! (Deadline is Oct. 17th in Massachusetts. Not registered? Get on that!)

I shopped for groceries, picked up a museum pass for the PEM tomorrow, did the dishes, created more dishes by cooking dinner (vegetables included), picked up some ice cream at Kimballs (thanks Mary!), cleaned my apartment a bit, organized some craft stuff, and....

....set up my printer!

When I bought my Mac in January, I got a free printer/rebate deal thing. I waited until the last possible week to mail in my rebate form and now, almost 10 months later, I finally took the printer out of the box. I even went so far as to figure out how to download a software update. Currently, I can only print through the USB. Someone teach me how to get the wireless to work!

After I did all of those productive things I watched a few episodes of Breaking Bad, read for a bit, and am now playing blog catch up (I forgot my September goal was to completely catch up on all my summer adventures!) while watching some classic Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

   

How Do I Love Thee? Let Me Count The Ways...

My computer hard drive is MIA.  Sunday morning it was there working fine and by Sunday afternoon my computer refused to boot, shut down, or do anything other than loop through the Windows setup.

Currently, my options are quite limited. I could:
1. Buy a new computer.
2. Buy a new hard drive.
3. Try to find someone to copy my hard drive.
4. Cry.
5. Pay the Geek Squad an exorbitant amount of money for them to tell me that I need a new hard drive.
6. Learn to live without the internet. <--NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN.

Now...it's no surprise that I have a slight addiction affinity for being connected.  (FYI: I only have a desktop.  No laptop, no iPad, no smart phone.)  But in the last two days I've begun to count the ways that I've needed the internet/my computer.

1. To Google the error code BIOHD-8 to see if it means certain PC death.
2. To check my email.
3. To pay my credit card bill on time.
4. To check the forecast.
5. To cancel Netflix.
6. To BLOG and READ BLOGS!
7. To Google what time the library closes so I can use their internet.
8. To check the news.
9. To listen to iTunes.
10. To find the address of a meeting.
11. To track what I ate today.
12. To work on my personal budget.
13. To watch Hulu.
14. To do a bunch of other mundane things.

So if I am absent for the next few days forever, please don't think that I've deserted you.  I am likely just curled in a fetal position under the covers, weeping over the loss of the internet.  Also, if you know anything about fixing non-existent hard drives or computers that read error: BIOHD-8 let me know.  But not via comment or Facebook or email.  Hmm....

Dear Internet Explorer,

I'm breaking up with you.  All you do is freeze my blog and slow down Facebook.  You do have the privacy feature which lets me sign into two email accounts at the same time.  That is nice.  But sadly, it is not enough.  

You’ve been replaced by Firefox which doesn’t freeze my blog every time I sign in.  Also their fox cuddling with the world logo totally kicks your logos ass.

I would say “It’s not you, it’s me” but that would be a lie.  It’s definitely you.

It's Here! It's Here!

I've made several vague promises now about an exciting "project" that I've been working on to showcase my summer travel plans.  I'm happy to say it is finally done! 

While I was busy wishing I owned a Mac so I could use iMovie, I stumbled across Windows Movie Maker which suited me just fine.  Keep in mind that this is my first digital movie project.  So be nice and tell me you love it.

And...without further ado:

OMG IM SFE!

Which stands for OH MY GOD I'M SO FUCKING EXCITED or OH MY GOODNESS I'M SO FREAKIN' EXCITED!

With the success of my first minibook Seattle Wedding Weekend Edition, I have decided to delve into my past to perhaps the most exciting thing I have ever done.  In college, I studied abroad in England...met some life long friends who are now scattered all across the USA...and traveled to some amazing places.  I took a lot of photos and saved a lot of tidbits from my travels and I'm very excited to finally do something with them.

While we were traveling I had a digital camera with a small memory card so I stopped every so often to burn photos onto cds.  Luckily I still have these cds because my old laptop kicked the bucket taking every single photo with it to the grave.

But the MOST exciting part of beginning this project is that I have finally harnessed all of my technological skills and my thumbnail versions of my Amsterdam pictures are now fully realized photos!  And trust me there are some gems in the bunch such as:

Remember this was back in the day when we were young...and all these photos tell stories that begin with, "When I was in Europe..."   

Enough said.

I promise to write a post with more than 50 words sometime soon but for now let us marvel at my excellent photography skills.

In honor of today being 9/02/10 (which I didn't know until I read The Sassy Curmudgeon ) let's all take a moment to remember one of the better parts of the 90's!

As a totally unrelated aside - it took me a very long time to figure out how to add a link into my post and I am exceptionally proud that I managed to do it all by myself. I would say it's akin to programming a VCR (which I don't know if I ever successfully managed to do.)
